On February 7, 2008 there was an explosion/fire at the Imperial Sugar Refinery-a part of the Savannah community since 1917.
many were killed and injured- our relatives-our friends...
This song was written in remembrance of the victims. their families and friends, the Imperial Sugar family, and our community.
The inspiration comes from the Oak tree lined road-Oxnard drive -that one travels to enter the refinery.
Those big beautiful oaktrees have been around since 1917-standing together, standing tall, and standing strong.
They teach us a very valuable lesson about going through difficult times!
